The Northwest Territories offer the perfect conditions for viewing the Northern Lights up to 240 nights a year! Enjoy a small group setting on this trip as you explore Yellowknife’s cultural heritage, including a traditional dog sledding tour, and an Indigenous storytelling experience. With comfortable accommodations, delicious local dining, and the thrill of Aurora hunting each night, this adventure promises an unforgettable Arctic journey.

*Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and we cannot guarantee that you will see them. We will ensure that your trip remains a bucket list experience, even if you are not fortunate enough to see the Aurora Borealis.
Itinerary
Please note that this is a sample itinerary and is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather or unexpected closures.
Arrive in Yellowknife
- Fly to Yellowknife Airport. A complimentary hotel shuttle will bring you to your accommodations
- Check into the hotel in Yellowknife and pick up your winter clothing at the front desk
- Depart the hotel in the evening and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant (included)
- Transfer back to your accommodations to get some rest before tonight’s Aurora Tour
- Let’s go chase the Northern Lights! Go on your first Aurora Hunting Tour of the trip. Rather than waiting in one place to view the lights, your guide will take you to wherever they are supposed to be strongest that night. Pick-up and drop off from the hotel are included. Return at approximately 1:30 am (tour times could vary depending on weather conditions)
Northwest Territories
- Have breakfast at leisure or choose to sleep in
- Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and depart for a 2-hour Sightseeing City Tour of Yellowknife
- After the tour, return to the hotel and enjoy free time for lunch. Explore some of the town’s great restaurants (own expense)
- In the afternoon, meet your guide again and depart for a 2-hour Indigenous Storytelling Tour. You will visit The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre with an introduction to the Indigenous Peoples of the North*
- Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in the evening (included)
- Arrive back at your hotel to rest and embark on another Aurora Hunting Tour at night
*If you book the 5-day package option, you will have free time for optional day tours this afternoon, and enjoy the Indigenous Storytelling Tour on Day 4
Northwest Territories
- Sleep in or have breakfast on your own
- Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and depart for a 2-hour Traditional Dog Sledding Tour
- Return to the hotel and have lunch at leisure
- Enjoy free time in the afternoon to relax at your accommodation, explore the town and go shopping, or join some optional day tours (additional cost)
- Dinner is included this evening
- Get some rest and then enjoy another Aurora Hunting Tour tonight
Northwest Territories (5-day option only)
- Have breakfast at leisure and enjoy your morning to book optional day tours (additional cost)
- Free time for lunch on your own
- In the afternoon, meet your guide at the hotel lobby and depart for a 2-hour Indigenous Storytelling Tour. You will visit The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre with an introduction to the Indigenous Peoples of the North
- Back at your hotel, enjoy time to explore around downtown Yellowknife, do some shopping, and try some of the town’s great restaurants for dinner (own expense)

What is the main difference between the 4-day and 5-day package?
While both packages have similar inclusions, the 5-day tour includes an additional night of accommodation and Aurora Hunting Tour, giving you more chances to see the Northern Lights.
Additionally, the extra day allows for more free time to explore Yellowknife, enjoy its excellent dining options, and participate in optional day tours. Some of these tours include an Ice Road Tour on the frozen lake with a visit to the Indigenous village of Dettah and the Snow Castle, or a Scenic Drive & Nature Hike Tour through the winter wilderness of Northern Canada to see the Canadian Precambrian Shield landscape, the oldest rock in the world!
