Itinerary
This is a sample itinerary especially recommended for guests who join our Rockies & Waterton Hidden Gems tour from Vancouver to Calgary. On your return to Vancouver, board the legendary Rocky Mountaineer in Banff for two days of all-daylight rail travel (separate bookings)
Route: First Passage to the West (Banff to Vancouver bound*)
Stops: Banff, Kamloops, Vancouver
Duration: 2 days onboard Rocky Mountaineer

Day 1 - Banff to Kamloops
- Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at Banff Station at 7:30am MT.
- Enjoy the spectacular array of scenery as you travel between the glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranchlands of the Interior.
- Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, and Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven.
- Arrival in Kamloops between 6:30pm and 8:00pm PT.
- Spend the evening exploring the city of Kamloops or relaxing in your hotel room.
Day 2 - Kamloops to Vancouver
- Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Kamloops Station at 7:35am PT.
- On today’s journey west, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley.
- Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon.
- Arrive in Vancouver between 6:00pm and 7:30pm PT.
