FAQs
How high is the chance to see the Northern Lights in the Yukon?
The Yukon is one of the best places in Canada to witness the Aurora Borealis, with more than 240 nights of visibility each year. In the fall (mid-August to mid-November), the Northern Lights can often be seen as the nights grow longer and darker.
Because the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, sightings are never guaranteed. However, fall in the Yukon offers a spectacular experience with stunning autumn colors, great activities available, and incredible landscapes—even if the Aurora doesn’t make an appearance, rest assured that your trip will remain a bucket-list experience!
Can I change my departure and return airport for this package?
Yes! We can arrange your roundtrip flights to the Yukon from a different airport than Vancouver, subject to availability. Please note that package pricing may vary depending on your departure and arrival city. Contact our team for more information.
How can I add optional activities for Day 2?
You can enhance your Yukon experience by adding an optional activity on Day 2 (additional cost). These are subject to availability, and can be requested upon booking with one of our agents. Be sure to reserve early to secure your spot! For this package, you can choose between:
Yukon Wildlife Preserve & Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs (starting from $325 CAD): Observe iconic northern animals in their natural habitat before unwinding in thermal waters.
Scenic Tour of the Southern Lakes Region (available in August and September, starting from $255 CAD): Take in the vibrant fall landscapes, colors, and pristine lakes of the Yukon’s southern wilderness.
What’s the difference between visiting the Yukon in fall versus winter?
Fall in the Yukon offers milder temperatures, ranging from 5°C to -5°C (41°F to 23°F), compared to winter’s subzero conditions. The days are longer, allowing more time for outdoor exploration, and the landscapes are filled with golden tundra and bright autumn foliage. While the Northern Lights are visible from mid-August, they may not be as intense as in the deep winter months. Travelling to the Yukon outside of peak season (winter and summer) has other benefits associated, such as less visitors and better value.
If you prefer to travel in winter, and increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, be sure to check out our Yukon Deluxe Winter Northern Lights package!
